Job Description:

As a member of our practice, you will serve as a trusted business advisor, providing guidance to help our  clients succeed in today’s complex and challenging marketplace.   The Hertz Herson team is a dedicated group of professionals who have the business skills, industry experience, and advanced technical know-how of a full-service accounting practice.  As an audit professional, you will guide our clients through evaluating, reporting and complying for the needs of their financial reporting.

Our team’s clients primarily reside in retail, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, professional services, broker-dealers, real estate and technology.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Years of Experience: 4-6 years within a CPA Firm

Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting

Certification Required: CPA or commitment to pass CPA exam and thereafter obtain CPA licensure
Knowledge Required:

  • Working knowledge and exposure to the common issues facing non-publicly traded companies in manufacturing, distribution and services industry, including but not limited to; entrepreneurship, funding requirements, and growth objectives.
  • Working knowledge of public accounting and audit practices, procedures and reporting standards. Extensive knowledge of U.S. GAAP, U.S GAAS and IFRS standards.
  • Thorough knowledge of first level review of basic audit reports produced by associates.

Skills Required:

  • Demonstrates technical skills for applicable accounting and reporting standards in attest engagements including research, completing and reviewing the engagement elements.
  • Experience applying professional skepticism skills.
  • Prior commercial client experience leading a team.
  • Demonstrated strength in the ability to design engagement procedures based on materiality, risk and other discussions with the engagement team and client.
  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize within short notice to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills, able to lead an engagement from planning to completion.
  • Experience in Prosystems Engagement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Years of Experience: 5-7 years in a tax practice within a CPA firm.

Knowledge Required:

  • Proficient technical skills with FAS 109.
  • Strong preparation and review skills, able to independently review complex corporate return with multi state filing requirements.
  • Knowledgeable with all aspects of corporate tax, partnership and high-net-worth individuals.
  • Experience assisting with tax research projects for clients in diverse industries and utilize results to develop or propose an implementation strategy.
  • Familiar with tax controversy, Federal and State audits and understand the need to adhere to deadlines and attention to detail while working on these projects.
  • Research highly complex tax matters or tax planning projects, and conclude on highly technical transactions.
  • Able to disseminate technical tax research and information.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to work independently with strong organization, communications, interpersonal skills, and be willing to multi-task.
  • Ability to multitask and reprioritize within short notice to deliver under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organization skills, able to supervise various engagements simultaneously and independently from beginning to delivering a signature ready product.
  • Experience supervising teams is a plus. Desire to build leadership skills by creating an atmosphere of trust, encouraging improvement and innovation with a consistent drive to provide a professional client focused atmosphere.

  • Working knowledge of day to day compliance for a variety of entities including partnerships, corporations, pass through entities and individual and Subchapter S corporations. Individual experience is a plus.

  • Knowledge of ProSystems Tax.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications.
  • Introductory experience and skills relating to tax compliance for privately held organizations.
